The process: Description
The tour starts just a few steps from St. Mark’s Square, right in the heart of Venice. The second starting point is near the Rialto Bridge, also in the city center.
The advantage of these two piers is that several gondoliers have joined together to form a consortium, meaning one of them is always free for your ride.
After the tour begins, you’ll first have to find your way around the gondola. You’ll probably find it a bit shaky at first. You’ll have to figure out where the back is, where the front is, and where the gondolier actually stands.
For this reason, the tour begins through the quiet, romantic canals in the center of Venice. You and your family can first enjoy the peaceful, dreamy gondola ride together in peace and quiet before the real action begins.
Now comes the big surprise!
At some point, about five minutes after takeoff, the gondola turns left and heads directly toward a small bridge. There hangs the banner with the inscription you selected beforehand. Now it’s time. Your partner will see the banner with your personalized inscription.

Optimales Timing
Based on years of experience, we’ve optimized the timing of the gondola ride to its best. After takeoff, you’ll initially have a quiet phase. Then the gondola suddenly turns around the corner of a building, keeping it a surprise. Only now does the moment of surprise arrive, and of course, you’ll personally congratulate your partner. This is about five minutes later, so it’s neither too early nor too late. After all, after the surprise, you want to spend most of the rest of the gondola ride on „cloud nine.“

However, the entire circuit doesn’t follow the canal, so you won’t be exposed to the smelly diesel fumes from the vaporetti and the rough waves on the canal for an unnecessarily long time. This guarantees that you won’t have to wait long at a pier. We will check with the gondoliers in advance to find out where a free slot is available for your desired date. We will then let you know by email in advance where the best starting and stopping point in Venice is for your appointment.

In our experience, there are essentially two different behaviors: There are customers who know exactly what they want. They’re convinced by the offer. They therefore order the trip as described and send us the customized banner text fairly quickly. They also pay immediately, and we then order the banner immediately. In this case, everything is clarified, completed, and arranged within a few days.
On the other hand, there are also customers who are still unsure and hesitant. They either don’t yet know the exact date or time of the gondola ride. Even with the exact banner text, doubts and indecision still linger. That’s fine, of course; it’s just that valuable time is slipping away.
We only place the order for printing the banner after payment has been received. And although we’ve been working with the company for over 20 years, we’ve never been able to expedite delivery. The company here in Venice requires at least three full working days. And the company is closed on weekends and holidays. We keep trying to expedite printing, but unfortunately, this shortage persists. Getting a free gondola appointment is NOT a problem for us.

The best time – the best light
The wedding day gondola ride described here naturally also leads through narrow, romantic canals. A typical canal is only 2 meters wide, with 3-4 story buildings on either side. Light for photography is sometimes a bit scarce. And just like at home: the later the evening, the less light there is. All cameras respond with a longer shutter speed. Unfortunately, this carries the risk of blurry images.

Therefore, we strongly advise you not to start your journey too late. Here in Venice, it gets dark at the same time of day as at home. Therefore, please base your lighting on the light conditions at home.

The weather
The gondolas run year-round, of course. They operate in almost any weather, even in the rain. The ride is only canceled during floods. But with the new flood protection system, this is no longer likely.
You have the following options:
– You travel with an umbrella despite the rain.
– You postpone by a few hours, meaning you travel earlier or later.
– You postpone by a day, meaning you travel either earlier or later.
– You cancel the gondola ride.
